Martin Aurum is a writer, entrepreneur, and conscious agent.

I was born into a materialist and atheist environment and lived non-consciously for decades. In 2008, I experienced the simultaneous events of new life and death. It stretched me out between the farthest extremes of earthly experience, and tore apart what I considered to be ‘me’. What followed was a long and stumbling journey into consciousness where I had to surrender to a process that led to insights far greater and stranger than anything I could have ever imagined. My journey is about overcoming unbearable loss and resolving trauma by making it conscious and using it as a catalyst for growth. At the end of my journey, I found only silence. A simple ‘I am’, followed by nothing and everything. I’ve dedicated the remaining years of this life to developing consciousness as best I can. In 2024, I changed my last name to Aurum to reflect this shift in awareness and focus. You can read the full story in my book, Finding No One.

My frustration with society’s inability to counter climate change, despite having both the knowledge and the resources, led me to conclude that the climate crisis, and indeed the larger meta-crisis it is part of, is a symptom of underdeveloped human consciousness – which, in turn, is caused by our materialist belief system. We don’t just have consciousness, we are consciousness. This common misconception is at the root of the most significant threats facing our planet today. Ignoring our fundamental nature and continuing to live non-consciously causes unnecessary suffering for individuals and leads to escalating disaster for our global society. And, in contrast, understanding and embracing our true nature as consciousness can reimagine, reformulate, and re-enchant human existence at every conceivable level, ultimately leading to a new Earth and a transformed humanity. Beyond duality lies oneness, and it is available to anyone prepared to do The Great Work. I’ve gone much deeper into consciousness development and the metaphysics of existence in Home of One.

I hold an MA in culture, philosophy, and communications, and was distracted from pursuing my PhD fellowship when I was invited to join my first startup. I worked for over 15 years as an entrepreneur in tech and climate, cofounding companies such as Issuu (a publishing platform), Conferize (an events platform), Massive.earth (a scalable climate action startup incubator), and Elby (an EV charging solution for cities). I had the pleasure of experiencing everything from bankruptcy to exit to IPO, while learning how to build organizations around ideas that sought to create change. I now apply this learning towards a consciousness-first agenda. I operate a small business vessel to support my activities, Lumio Santo.

I see the escalating meta-crisis as a symptom of underdeveloped human consciousness. We need to upgrade our cultural operating system to reflect all of reality. The most important things are not things at all: Consciousness is fundamental.

The only authority I claim is that of individual consciousness. Please use what you can from my writing and projects, and simply leave the rest. May it help you grow and find peace.

I will continue to publish more works. You can subscribe below or follow me elsewhere.

What a time to be alive.
